Frantisek Ronovsky

About a year ago, Kodl Gallery has organised the first retrospective exhibition of Frantisek Ronovsky paintings. It was the most complete introduction to this significant artists' work, because PhDr. Martin Kodl has succeeded to gather almost 100 paintings and drawings, which have formed a truly exceptional insight. Due to limited capacity of the gallery, the monumental pieces have not been diplayed. So when Prague Castle Administration came with the idea of an exhibition of Ronovsky's life-time work in the premises of Prague Castle Riding School, Kodl Gallery has decided to support this project by publishing a catalogue. Here also is PhDr. Jiri Urban the author of texts. The book contains more then thirty color reproductions of Ronovsky's paintings and has become a subtle alternative to painters' monography published in 2007.

Frantisek Kavan

In the middle of april 2009 a new monography of Frantisek Kavan, one of the most important czech landscape painters,was published. The book is written by a recognized and well-known art historian PhDr. Michal Zachar. The book contains 217 pages, more than 170 colour reproductions, many unpublished photos from Kavan´s life, and extensive inventory of his work with 1116 paintings mainly from private owners.

Frantisek Ronovsky

The exhibition of the academic painter Frantisek Ronovsky was organised by Gallery Kodl in summer 2008 with launching ceremony and official introduction of his so far the most comprehensive monoghraphy prepared by a team of authors, among them renowned Czech art historians PhDr. Jan Baleka, prof. Jiri Setlik, PhDr. Jiri Masin and PhDr. Jan Kriz. The author of the general concept of the book is Jiri Urban, who prepared the main essay about Ronovsky and his artwork. The three hundred pages publication with translation into english was issued in 2007 by Jakura publishing house subsidised by Zentiva.

Marak´s school

At the end of the year 2002 and beginning of 2003 an exhibition under the name “Marak´s school” took place, for which a publication was issued under the same name written by PhDr. Michal Zachar in cooperation with  PhDr. Martin Kodl. On the occasion of the exhibition „Czech impressionism “ in summer 2007 the publication was introduced in a new, extended version.

Emil Filla from private collections

Cena: 90,- CZK

On opening of the exhibition of the same name in the year 2000 Gallery Kodl published a Czech-English monography with original memories of the copyright owner Frantisek Krejci and several contributions from prof. PhDr. Jaromir Zemina, prof. PhDr. Frantisek Dvorak, prof. PhDr. Jiri Siblik, PhDr. Michal Zachar, PhDr. Martin Kodl and with introduction by doc. Jan Kacer. For strong interest in the publication, it was reissued and now it is available for purchase in Gallery Kodl.

Otakar Schindler

Cena: 60,- CZK

Within the exhibition of the painter and stage designer Otakar Schindler a catalogue was issued to his exhibition, which took place in the gallery premises in 2002.

Jan Spala

Cena: 200,- CZK

In connection with a large retrospective exhibition of Vacla Spala that took place in Valdstejn Riding Hall, the Gallery Kodl prepared an exhibition of his son Jan Spala in 2005. On this very occasion a monography of the painter was published offering apart from many colour reproductions also a comparison of his with artwork with that of his father. The publication was complemented with a catalogue of the author’s artwork.

Auction catalogue

Cena: 150,- CZK

On the occasion of the spring and autumnal auction the Gallery Kodl has been issuing an auction catalogue twice a year. The publication contains quality photographs and description of all artworks in the sequence in which these will be auctioned at the auction. The auction catalogue also serves as a ticket admitting two persons to the auction. The catalogue is possible to buy in the gallery two weeks prior the auction, or to utilise the option of an annual subscription. It is also available after the auction along with the results sheet, the price of it is 50,- CZK.

Karel Cerny

Cena: 690,- CZK

In 2003 the Foundation of Karel Svolinsky and Vlasta Kubatova issued a monography of one of the most interesting painters of the Czech modern art of the 20th century, Karel Cerny (1910 – 1960), with the subtitle Colour and Existence; a catalogue of painter’s artwork. The publication follows the development of Cerny artwork in connection with existentialism which must have been decisive for the painter’s attitude of sole solitude. The book contains the most comprehensive list of painter’s paintings to date; the author of its concept is prof. PhDr. Vojtech Lahoda, CSc.

Emil Filla

A monography of the famous Czech painter, graphic artist, sculptor and art theoretician follows in detail development of his artwork. It creates the image of Emil Filla within the context of his friends and personalities with who he was in contact or correspondence. The author of the book is prof. PhDr. Vojtěch Lahoda, CSc. The monography of one of the leading representatives of modern Czech art, cubism in particular, is provided with many colour reproductions and black and white photographs. The book was published in 2007 by Academia publishing house.

Rudolf Kremlicka

The picture monography of one of the major representatives of the modern Czech art contains a large number of colour reproductions which have not been published so far. The book was published in 2007 in the Academia publishing house on the occasion of the exhibition called „Rudolf Kremlicka is coming back”, which took place in the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague, in The House U Kamenneho zvonu (House At the Stone Bell) from 18the October 2006 till 21 January 2007; the author of the exhibition was PhDr. Karel Srp.

Janus Kubicek

Cena: 990,- CZK

Illustrative Czech-English-French publication follows the artwork of the Czech painter living in 1921-1993. The author of the foreword is Igor Zhor. The monography was published in Atlantis publishing house in cooperation of the artist’s family in 1998.

Painter and His Collector

Kupka – Waldes

Cena: 1 500,- CZK

A publication following the artwork of Frantisek Kupka in the collection of Jindrich Waldes was issued on the occasion of an exhibition under the same name taking place in a Small Gallery of Rudolfinum in Prague, from 7 December 1999 – 9 January 2000. The author of the exhibition concept and of the publication is Anna Pachovska; further contributed with their texts: J. Waldes, L. Vachtova, O. Smrcek, J. Rous, P. Meissner and J. Toman. The publication was issued by Petr Meissner – antiquarian bookshop Meissner in cooperation with the studio Divus in 1999.
