You may participate in an auction either live, on phone, or in writing (setting a fix limit).
Auctions rank among festive events and bring a lot of unrepeatable experiences to their participants. If you whish to join an auction live , you must collect an auction number before starting the auction for which you pay an advance on the spot and which will be repaid back after returning the number. Due to dispatch of prepaid auction numbers to a large number of prospects it is recommended to appear at the venue (Zofin Palace, Slovansky island, Prague 1) roughly half an hour prior its start.
When participating in an auction on phone, it is necessary to fill in and sign in one´s own hand a Power of attorney for representation in an auction (on phone without preset limit), ), which is available directly in the gallery or freely downloadable from the web pages of the gallery. In the form you enter your personal data, catalogue number of the artwork you are interested in, its starting price and your telephone number to which you will be called during the auction and you yourself will have the chance to influence the amount of your bid up and thus directly react to the situation in the Great hall of the Zofin Palace.
Another auction method contrary to the two above mentioned methods not requiring your personal participation or participation on phone, is setting a final amount, ie. fix limit for an artwork selected by you. By filling in a Power of attorney for representation in an auction you set a fix amount to which you are willing to increase your bid-ups.
In any case we will inform you on the result of auctioning the art work selected by you at the earliest deadline after the end of the auction. If you decide to auction on phone or upon a limit set in advance, you will be asked to deposit 10% of the starting price for participation in the auction.
We very much appreciate the trust you give us by signing the power of attorney for representation in the auction, while it is a matter of course that all data provided by you are confidential and will only be used for the purposes of the Gallery Kodl. The auctions of the Gallery Kodl and Auction hall Vltavín take place in a Great Hall of the Zofín Palace on Slovansky island from 1.00 p.m. The auctioned works of art are presented in the hall and are displayed along with their bid-ups in CZK on a large projection screen. To the prices reached in the hall an auction surplus is added at the amount of 20% VAT included. Each prospect has a chance to see the work of art personally. For this purpose so called pre-auction exhibitions , are organised during which you may get acquainted with all the works of art intended for the auction fourteen days in advance. Organising auction halls have the works of art distributed according to their sequence numbers. Odd items are in the Gallery Kodl, the even ones in the Auction Hall Vltavín. Upon request you may also see the selected works of art directly in the auction venue prior its start. Prior the auction itself on Žofin, the first submission ,is running on the internet pages of the Auction hall Vltavín, during which people may bid up for individual works of art they are interested in. The on-line round of auction is started fourteen days in advance and is terminated one day prior the auction at 12.00 a.m. The increased opening amount from on-line round of the auction becomes a starting amount which other bid-ups to works of art will be based on. For each auction a catalogue is issued and the works of art are auctioned in the sequence in which they are presented in the catalogue. The starting price represents the lowest submission and may be increased during the first submission. After outcry of the first auctioned work of art under its sequence number and name the auctioners may make bid-ups by raising the prepaid auction number. The auction continues until auctioners are interested in the auctioned work of art and make bid-ups. For a bid-up is taken:
The order of bid-ups is decided by the person charged with execution of an auction. The auctioneer terminates the auction of a work of art if no bid-up was given after second invitation for increasing the bid-up. Upon the third invitation the auctioneer knocks down the auctioned work of art to the highest bidder. The auctioner is obliged to settle the obligations resulting from purchased work of art directly at the auction venue during a payment break, or to negotiate individual payment conditions with the gallery, which payment must usually be made within one month after the end of the auction. It is possible to pay in CZK, Euro or by use of a credit card or bank transfer to the account of the gallery. The auctioned works of art will be released immediately after payment at the auction venue or upon submission of a Confirmation of payment in the Gallery (Vitezna 11, Prague 5 – Mala Strana) within one week after the auction.
