Auction Artslimit Online 7

Published:  3/4/2024

The selective online auction of artworks organized by the auction portal Artslimit takes place from March 4 to 24. A balanced collection of works from the 19th and 20th centuries with overlaps with contemporary work, as well as other exclusive collector's items, will be exhibited throughout the entire period in the premises of the KODL Gallery. You can bid and learn more about the items at www.artslimit.com.

The nineteenth century is mainly represented by students of the so-called Haushofer school of landscape painting - Antonín Waldhauser, Jan Václav Kautský and Ernst Gustav Doerell.

The works of the so-called Czech Parisian Alfons Mucha are an integral part of the auction. From 1892 comes one of the author's illustrations for X. Marmier's book of fairy tales: Les Contes des Grand-Mères, specifically for the fairy tale Petr, the rich shopkeeper. A selection of these illustrations was presented at the Paris Salon in the Palais des Champs Élysées, where Mucha exhibited for the first time in 1892 and received honorable mention for his drawings. Another of Mucha's works in the auction is the large-scale drawing Girl with a dove or the lithograph The beauty of the day from the famous cycle Denní pody.

Czech modernism is also presented by names important in terms of art history and collecting – Václav Špála, Emil Filla, Josef Šíma, Jan Zrzavý, Karel Černý and Antonín Procházka. From the art of the second half of the 20th century, you will meet prominent figures such as Vlastimil Beneš, Alena Kučerová, Ota Janeček, Adriena Šimotová, Josef Jíra, Josef Liesler, Jitka and Květa Válovy or Jiří Načeradský. From the sculptural work, the works of Karel Dvořák, Karel Kronych, Eva Kmentová will appear in the auction, and traditionally there is also a set of sculptures by Olbram Zoubek.

Even the current art scene does not lag behind the busy and collectable auction selection. From the studio of Theodor Pištěk, one of the most sought-after and at the same time the most recognized living Czech artists, here you will find the costume design he created for the film Hry lásky šálivé.

A remarkable variety is also a selected collection of iconic vintage handbags from famous fashion houses Hermès (Birkin 35, Kelly Retourné 35), Chanel and Dior, exclusive watches from Rolex and, in the Czech auction environment, a rare set of luxury MOOD cutlery by Christofle, designed in 2018 by Karl Lagerfeld.

As part of a benefit auction for the benefit of the organization DEBRA ČR, which helps to make life easier for people with the so-called butterfly wing disease, a design vase by one of the most original contemporary Czech glass makers, František Jungvirt, is being offered. Another benefit item is an oil on canvas by the artist Jan Choura, whose hammer price the author donates 100% to support the non-profit organization Centrum Paraple.

The exhibition takes place throughout the online auction in the KODL Gallery.

Guided tours for the public will take place on Thursday, March 7 and 14 from 4 p.m.
