Several records were set at this year's most successful auction organized by Kodl Gallery and Vltavín Auction Hall.
The KODL Gallery and the Vltavín Auction Hall in Prague's Žofín offered over 450 paintings on Sunday's auction day, and this is undoubtedly the most successful auction this year, the total sales of which will end just below the record mark of 100 million CZK. Again, a number of records were broken. The absolute maximum was surpassed by Joža Úprka with a final price of 2.3 million, veristic Václav Zykmund with 3 million, and in the painting category also Jan Koblasa with a record of 530 thousand CZK, the first place in the domestic ranking was also reached by a painting by Michael Haubtmann with 370 thousand.
The second highest auctioned work by Adolf Kosárek was Mountain Landscape in a Storm with 2.6 million. Paintings by Leopold Stephan or Pavla Mautnerová took second place in absolute results. The most expensive auction item was the exclusive Head of a Man with a Pipe, which was sold for a record 17 million CZK.
