85th Auction, Lot 4 This work of finer dimensions represents the current work attitude of the talented Romanian painter Serban Savu, who gained his art training at the University of Art and Design in Cluj, Romania. The artist is a member of a group of painters known as the “Cluj-school” and his figural paintings capably depict the everyday life of contemporary Romanians. The classical tradition of European painting, especially Italian and French, became fundamental for him; in his works, we can observe influence of the work of Leon Battista Alberti and the idyllic landscapes of Nicolas Poussin and Claude Lorrain. These inspirations, set in the contemporary Romanian landscape, seem to be part of the melancholic story that Savu himself creates. This artwork is a donation from the author. Proceeds from this artwork will be credited to the account of the Bátor Tábor Foundation and will be fully exempt from auction fees.
