94th KODL Gallery Auction - November 30, 2025 | Žofín Palace & Artslimit.com portal

Published:  11/30/2025

The 94th KODL Gallery auction became the most successful auction of 2025.

Five oil paintings by Josef Čapek became the “hit” of the auction. Together, they were sold for 69,840,000 CZK. The most expensive item in the auction was the painting by Emil Filla The Reader. With the price of 32,400,000 CZK, his author’s record from 2021 was also equaled. A number of other author’s records were also broken here, with an extraordinary increase in prices. A total of 205 works of art were auctioned. The starting price of 95,753,000 CZK was increased to 265,495,000 CZK. 94% of the items were sold, with a record price increase of 180 percent.

Over 400 visitors in the hall, more than 500 bidders on the telephone lines and online buyers on the Artslimit portal ensured a dynamic atmosphere at Sunday's auction. This confirmed that the interest in Czech fine art is still exceptional. "In the spring, I thought that we had already reached the maximum this year. But! Now the score from the spring auction has been surpassed. Simply put, our autumn auction is the auction of 2025 in the entire Czech Republic and actually Slovakia, both with regard to the number of artifacts sold and the total amount achieved," says Martin Kodl.

Many thanks to all the auctioneers and art lovers for the beautiful results of the auction.
